How did our Business get started? 

I always have had an entrepreneurial spirit.  As someone passionate about the water, I have owned and enjoyed boats. I wanted an easier way to get out on the water without the hassles of preparing the boat before and after.  I found myself wanting different styles of boats as one boat could not fill al of my needs. I enjoyed cruising around and water sports, but liked the ability to get down to some serious fishing. Sailing was another way that I liked to relax and commune with the water. My boat could not do all of these things.  One day while on the water boating I started daydreaming about owning multiple boats. How nice it would be to be rich, have all my toys, and have someone else take care of my boats.  This is the moment the concept started taking hold in my mind.    

What are company goals or vision for your future? 

The goal of the Carefree Boat Club is to create lifelong memories for our member’s families and friends by providing a boating experience that is fun, easy, safe and hassle free primarily through professional boat safety training, quality maintenance, excellent customer service, and unsurpassed industry knowledge.  

What is unique about your business? 

Our members enjoy the fun and lifestyle of boating without the hassles of owning. A boat owner maintains, cleans, repairs, and invests hours of time into up-keeping his or her boat. Club members have access to a variety of boats, unlimited use, and a concierge service to go along with it.  My company created a model that makes it stress free to get out on the water, and membership is a fraction of the cost of owning just one boat.  Carefree Boat Club puts another boat into the water for every 10 memberships. So the fleet grows in concert with membership growth. Our motto is boating without owning, it’s about time!  

What is the smartest thing you have done for your business? 

Take care of our members.  Our members are very enthusiastic about this company.  They have helped us grow and be successful.  They, many times, offer to come for our marketing events to help.  Most members heard about us by word of mouth. 

What is the best lesson learned in the business? 

Put the customer first, provide quality service, and hire superior people.   

What achievement are you most proud of? 

At Carefree Boat Club we understand that our purpose is to help members create fun lifelong memories, by exceeding expectations and anticipating their needs and wishes. 

Who is your role model? 

My Mother!  She taught me hard work, education, and integrity.

To Operate a PWC Personal Watercraft
Everyone as of July 1 2012

To operate a boat with motors 10 horse power or greater:
Age 40 or younger as of July 1 2013
Age 45 or younger as of July 1 2014
Age 50 or younger as of July 1 2015
Everyone as of July 1 2016

Carefree Boat Club of Virginia Beach offers the state required boating safety course. Classes are held on Saturdays starting at 9am. Dates for upcoming classes can be found by contacting our membership director Karen at 757-851-2202 weekdays 9am-5pm. There is limited seating, RSVP is required of all attendees.

For members Carefree Boat Club furthers boating safety with on hands/on the water practical training. You will learn how to:
-Navigate by chart local and national waterways
-Communicate on VHF radios
-Operate a variety of vessels 18-27 feet
-Operate vessels in close quarters
-Handle on the water emergencies
-Fueling, towing, anchoring, beaching, etc…
-How to and where to enjoy boating

Carefree Boat Club takes boating safety very seriously.
